Structure & Principles

EMAN is governed by a model of collegial leadership, in which all member academies are recognized as equal contributors to a shared academic mission. The network is built upon three foundational principles:

Collegial Governance

All decisions are taken through consensus-driven structures, primarily the General Assembly and the Executive Committee, ensuring transparency, equity, and academic pluralism.

Scientific Universality

EMAN affirms the global principle that science transcends ideology, nationality, religion, and gender. It upholds the independence and integrity of research and scientific advice.

Regional Inclusiveness

The network is committed to the full participation of all Mediterranean countries, with particular attention to emerging academies and marginalized scientific communities.

In its structure and values, EMAN reflects the best of Mediterranean heritage—diverse yet united, historic yet forward-looking, rooted in dialogue, knowledge, and shared progress.”
