About EMAN
A timeline of strategic developments that have shaped EMAN’s academic and institutional journey.
Overview
The Euro-Mediterranean Academic Network (EMAN) is an autonomous, non-governmental, and non-profit scientific organization, founded in 2010 at the initiative of the Inter-Academic Group for Development (GID).
Anchored in the values of academic independence and scientific merit, EMAN brings together national academies of science from across the Mediterranean region with the aim of promoting:
- Scientific collaboration across borders
- Policy-relevant dialogue on issues of regional concern
- Capacity building in support of national and regional scientific communities
EMAN functions as a platform for collective academic thought, transdisciplinary exchange, and scientific diplomacy, enabling a shared voice in confronting complex challenges such as climate change, sustainable development, health systems, cultural preservation, and regional stability.
